Become a Volunteer

hsmc-balto
Volunteers are the heart of HSMC. Cuddling with the dogs is just one of the many opportunities to make a difference in the lives of shelter animals.

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Humane Society of Manatee County. Becoming a member of our volunteer team is easy and the first step is completing the online volunteer application.

If you are interested in becoming a valued volunteer, please review the requirements here.

To complete an application please click here.

For Court Ordered Community Service please call 941-747-8808 Ext. 315 or email volunteer@humanemanatee.org for additional information.

Once you have completed and submitted your online volunteer application, our Volunteer Coordinator will contact you for further information on upcoming orientation dates and answer any questions you may have. Thank you for considering volunteering at the Humane Society of Manatee County and joining us on this lifesaving journey of saving lives four paws at a time.

There is a wide range of volunteer opportunities at the Humane Society of Manatee County and you can choose one (or ALL) that aligns with your interests, time availability, and skill level. Volunteer applicants must be 18 years old or 16 years old with parental consent to walk the dogs.  Volunteers must be at least 14 years old to play with the cats and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian during their volunteer shift. The parent or guardian accompanying the minor must complete an application and complete the orientation process as well.

After completing the on-site orientation, volunteers will be issued a t-shirt and any necessary training for a $20 onboarding fee.  Volunteers are asked to wear closed-toed shoes, long pants, capris, and/or appropriate-length shorts. All new volunteers will receive an HSMC Volunteer Handbook and copies of all-volunteer policies.

Volunteering comes with perks from the HSMC Veterinary Clinic and Shelter. Click here to discover all the cool extras that go along with helping the animals.
